I am new to some of the functions to 3dgs a7 and have noticed that when i create a model and import it into the WED it has a glossy look to it or it appears to be a light source on one side of the model, which makes it appear perfect on one side but white on the other and this even happens with unlit checked and shadow and even in the dark with no lights. plz help as i am stuck in the mud and dont want to scrap my project. also can someone tell me how to add a screenshot of the problem cause i have one
Right click the model, choose properties and look for 'ambient', reduce that to darken (experiment) and albedo (experiment) to determine which way the light direcion strikes (turn off if using your own shadow casting)
To post screenies, click 'reply' button rather than choosing 'quick Reply' and you will be given options to include pics, links etec.

Add this line into main sun_light = 0;, that will turn off the light from one side thing and leave you open to providing your own sunlight direction with dynamic lights.

How do people get around this problem if they want to have sunlight? Do they either have to have no sunlight and clear models or is there another option? (if they dont want to use dynamic lights)
But thank you for your solution.

The options generally are in line with materials and shader manipulation or create your own sun (as the default sun is a dynamic light anyway) and place it where you want it to be whilst still having sun_light = off;
