Hi,
Have just upgraded from 6.40 to 7.05. I have tried to run about 6 different levels from the simpliest to the not so simple, but when I run them my computer freezes so totally so I have to reset it as no keypress helps. I am presented a black window where the game should be, but nothing else. A couple of months ago, I tried the trial version of 7.x that was available at that time, and at least the Car-demo worked without problem. My computer configuration is the same as then, some software have been installed and some removed, but nothing that AFAIK would cause this problem. I have tried with both 7.05 and 7.06 as well as making an EXE and running it, all trials ends with a freezed computer. After rebooting Windows says that it is my graphic card that is causing the problem. I have the latest available driver installed.
My computer is a laptop, Compaq EvoN1000v P4 2Ghz, 768 MB RAM, Mobility Radeon 7500 32 MB. The graphic card is at the minimum requirement level, but worked well with 6.40 and with the 7.x trial version, otherwise I would not have updated 3DGS. I'm also using DirextX 9.0c.
Suggestions anyone?
Thomas

If it worked before a driver update, roll-back the drivers? The card only has 32MB? Why so imbalanced in comparison to the rest of the system? Stated min. requirements or not, I get the impression that more is needed with the newer version. Try it again with 6.40.5, if runs fine, than it is something specific with the version you are using? The issue is still probably with your card if Windows is complaining about it? Try to remember when Windows started to whine, when drivers were updated, determine when an old A7 demo worked, etc.? What version is used in the car demo? Try swapping the card out with another one? (Yes, a hassle I know.) If you think it is a legitimate bug, post in a the proper location, but if Windows is whining about your video card...
(Supposely Earthlink connection interface applications may be hazardous to GameStudio..)
Only guesses, I am not really a qualified 'tech support' provider.

Thanks for answering First, don't laugh, my laptop is five (yes 5) years old , and at that time 32MB was quite OK in a laptop's graphics card; apart from the graphics card the computer is even faster than my 1 year old work laptop. I know I should buy a new computer, but as I don't need to play the latest games, I try to prolong the life of it as much as I can. While I have the latest graphics driver (from 2004...) I've not recently updated it, but as LarryLaffer recommended in another thread, I'll try with Omega drivers. I'll also try to find the trial version I remember worked well, but if I can't find it on my computer, I don't know where to find it. And I'll reinstall 6.40 to confirm that it still works, I formatted my hard disk in the summer, and haven't reinstalled A6 yet. The graphics drivers should be the same as I used before formatting, but you never know... I'm not sure a graphics card in a laptop is swappable. For the moment I can't say if it is a bug in A7 or not. It seems more related to my hardware and/or drivers, but if I somehow can confirm that 7.0? worked but not 7.05/7.06, then it is maybe possible to at least find out what causes the problem.
