Well, I have GStudio on my Vista Home laptop. I can put 3D objects on the WED Editor, and compiles fine. I created a script and saved it as "Test Level.wdl". However, whenever I try to run the "test", there is a dialogue box stating that the "file does not exist" or that "cannot read ~file" or "cannot compile". Also, whenever I select a 3D object, the screen refreshes VERY slowly. When using GStudio A5 engine, I had the "cannot run" or "cannot open" or "cannot find file" or "file name not valid" warnings but at least the level would compile and run. With GStudio A7, however, levels won't even run. I need help---- VERY badly.

Hi Want_to_learn,
did you build your level?? That means did you clicked at the option:
file --> Build WMB --> Build Level ??
On every map or Level you must build your level.

Hi Dramex! Thanks a bunch for replying! Yes, I did in deed build before I ran my level. But when I want to run the level, the loading screen comes up and two warning messages pop up: both of them say "Cannot open file" and "Cannot open ___" What could possibly have gone wrong? I made a new script and placed objects in my test level, bilt the level and everything, but nothing works!!! I have absolutely no clue what's going amiss. Any suggestions? Thanks! Want_to_learn

Well, something in the script must be wrong. This is the only thing what I can say because in the level editor you made all right. It is better for us when you show us your script and maybe we find the mistake. I am also a noob, but I think I can help you. ______________________ MFG Dramex

If you're using the templates, chances are the script doesn't have a problem.
Does your error message actually say "Cannot find ___" or is there a filename there? If there's actually a series of underscores, I really don't know what is happening. But if there's a filename, the type of file might matter to what your problem is.
The only problem I can think of that fits your problem is if the name of the file ends in .WDL, .C, or .H: you forgot to include one of the template files. There are a LOT of miscellaneous template scripts that you might not realize you need -- although most of WED handles for you.
If that's the case, for example, "Cannot find <fxgore00.wdl>", just find that file in Project Manager and click Add Script.

Well, I will state the errors in chronological order--- First, in the windows title line, it says "Malfunction W1301". Below it, it says <EXTREME.WMB>: Can't open fileThen it says <EXTREME.WMB>: Can't open levelWhat's up with this? I know very well that the files do exist and therefore cannot be missing. I can understand the " Cannot find <EXTREME.SED> ", but I cannot understand the <EXTREME.WMB>: Can't open file and <EXTREME.WMB>: Can't open level errors. Is there any explanation for this at all? Thank you VERY much for your reply, Futurulus! Want_to_learn

Hmm... your level is named "extreme", right? You didn't rename it recently? Look in the folder that has your level and make sure there are files called: extreme.wmp (this is your level, as WED can read it); extreme.wmb (this is your level as the engine can read it); extreme.wdl (this is your main script, generated by the templates). These should be in the same folder, with a couple of other .wdl files like gid01.wdl and display00.wdl. btw, what is <extreme.sed>? That's not a GS extension I'm familiar with. You say you can understand it, but its the one error message I don't understand!
