Yes I noticed that too so had to make up my own scene management system to actually delete the offending 'invisible' clipped poly's (models).
I havnt searched but there is a solution posted some few months ago, you might find it using clip_plane, clip factor, clip etc...
From what I recall it worked judging the response of the person who sought a similar answer but I dont recall which thread it was actually postsed in.
