Radakan Development Crew presents:RadakanBrief DescriptionRadakan is a single-player
sandbox 3D
RPG, in a
dynamic and dark
fantasy world.
We are making an RPG, but our goal isn't to set the player on a primary quest to "save the world". Our goal is to use core elements of an RPG, so that the player can strive to create his or her ideal sandbox reality. This creates a sense of accomplishment that is absolutely vital to allow players to bond with the game environment.
This implies several things:
For more information, see our (long)
design document.
Do note: We are currently making an alternate version of our original setting and gameplay, making the needed adjustments in order to qualify for
GameDev.net's 4E6 contest.
Target aim & CompensationThe gameplay is directed towards people who appreciates a deep RPG, with a strong emphasis on roleplay.
When finished, the game will be released as freeware. The engine is licensed under the GPL.
If you're looking for money, sad to say you're looking at the wrong project. We can only promise you a great deal of experience from working alongside a dedicated team with talented members. If you haven't worked in a team before, you will surely learn a lot about collaboration and communication. Alongside the obvious improvement you will get in your specialization, you might learn some new new aspects of game designing as well, seeing as we try to work closely together.

Anyone who's made a contribution would be credited in full and even more so should you work actively enough to join the core members.General RequirementsWe are looking for members who really want to contribute to this project.
We do not want you if you're just looking to get a little bit of experience in team-work.
We do not want you if you just want to see your name in the credits when the game is done.
We want members who like our concept and our goal - to make an RPG with real roleplay and a fresh theme, lore, and setting. Without genuine interest and involvement, the motivation will quickly crumble.
We want members who truly want to help the team progress by making a real effort. Of course, we are all indie developers, so we don't expect paid working standards. But we usually encourage every member to set up their own to-do list along with some obtainable deadlines.
You can read more about a good working environment on our forum (thread coming soon).
Communication- We require that all applicants have a regularly used MSN account or IRC client in order to simplify communication. (IRC info: #Radakan on chat.freenode.net ).
- We also expect members to check up regularly on our forums, for latest news and notifications.
- It is also a big plus if you're capable of giving constructive criticism to your fellow workers, also in different departments than your own.
PortfolioIf you decide to apply for the team, it is preferred that you provide us with a sample of your previous work. Meaning, if you are a programmer it would be nice if you once created a program, or if you are a writer you might have a story to show us.
ContactIf you want to apply, it is preferred that you contact our PR manager,
Sadr. Should I not be available, try contact our lead designer and programmer
Tinus or
Ben, the lead writer, through MSN or IRC (see above).
Team StructureCurrently we've had a recent rebuild of our team-structure, making it hard for us to give any exact numbers on active members. Just know that even though some people come and go, there are some of us in this project who are determined to see this project to the end, come storm and fire!
Memberlist.
Previous Work by TeamAs the team we are now, we have never done any previous work together besides what we have accomplished so far. Individually though, most of the team members have got remarkable experience, always ready to share it with the rest.
Additional InformationOur main recruiting-thread can be found at
at GameDev.net's forums, always going through changes and updates, now looking ahead to a much needed update again with all the new progress that has been done.
