i want to upgrade my Computer but it can only get up to 3GB.

So i was wondering if i should get 1x 1GB + 1x 2GB or 2x 1GB cause of dual channel.

Does someone know if dual channel is better than the 3GB Solution?

In terms of efficiency dual channel is definitely better and since you only have two slots, it seems to me the best solution. I would definitely go with either 2x 2Gb or 2x 1Gb.

If you have 4 Slots you can install 2x1GB and 2x512MB (like me).

I only have 2 slots and only can reach max. 3GB so i guess 2x 2gb wont work that well. Maybe i should go with 2x 1GB then

Your mainboard only allows 3GB ? I have never seen that before.

Yes, the system is 64 bit but the memory allocator on the northbridge has only 32 bit

Are you talking about DDR2 ram or?
It sounds like a pretty old motherboard to me. Perhaps it's not a bad idea buying a new motherboard soon, but yes in that case definitely go with 2x 1Gb.

yes ddr2, and its 2 years old.
Since it's my iMac, i can't change the motherboard there. But i got 2x 1GB now which is just fine to me
