Does anyone have an issues with some spotlights or pointlights flickering oddly, and seeming to turn off or on based on the player position? Im generating some problems with this.
Doesnt seem to matter the settings, or where they are placed, sometimes they do sometimes they dont, but some always flicker.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Update: actually i find that no matter what, all lights (pointlight, or spotlight) beyond the first 1 flicker or act weird. hmmmm

I have created a small video, easily downloaded from my server. I would like you to view this video, JCL or Doug, to see if the problem can be solved. This is a ingame video, so I canot put the link on the forums, is there anywhere else I can post this link?

Grafton released some examples in the user contributions forum. Maybe those can help you narrow down the problem? Edit: Ok I see now, but thought it would help ^^

If anyone else would like to take a look at the video, I really need help in deciding if this is an engine bug or not. Please contact me, if your knowledgable in this area.

Ya i checked out that route, seems that it does it with or without post processing, no change. Also I tried to different GPU's, with the same results.

Ok, I know now that there is no way it has anything to do with light placement or level design, it either has to do with the code or engine. The reason I know this is because I can take any light and put it anywhere in the level, that light will always work fine, but any light after it wont. I find this odd, because it shouldnt matter what order I assign the lights in.

Ok, so I have just solved the problem, but if someone can tell me why this was a problem it would really help me to better understand whats going. I had 3 groupings of shrubs, grass,rocks etc. in a triangular area approximately 2000 quants from eachother. Over each grouping were several 32bit alpha masked sprites acting as sun rays. Each group was a duplicate of the next and positioned the same way, and here is their code: Code:
action light_rays() { set (my, TRANSLUCENT | BRIGHT); my.alpha = 100; }
approximately 800 quants directly above each grouping is a spotlight: Code:
action spotlight() { set (my, INVISIBLE | PASSABLE); my.tilt = -90; my.lightrange = 1000; my.red = 60; my.green = 60; my.blue = 60; my.flags2 |= SPOTLIGHT; }
As I said before, only 1 worked properly at a time, the other two flickered, and it didn't matter which one I activated frst, they functioned the same. The solution came from me deleting all of the alpha masked sprites. Now they all work. I have no clue why this happened.
