hi,

i recently work with the demo (12 days left... ) and after some difficulties i start to see some results and i really like it..
now i ran into a problem with alphatextures. i have a street with some lamps. the glasses in this lamps are supposed to be transparent with the alpha-channel from the .tga. i modeled in blender an the alpha works fine there. but in 3dgs there is no transperency at all. it seems, 3dgs ignores the alpha when importing the texture (showing 256x256x24, should be 32 i think).
what do i miss? make me feel like a fool..

btw, i tried to search the wiki, the forum and the manual.. but either i use the wrong words or there are really no answers there.

any help.... errr...helps

thx

hi there,
you have to save your .tga as a 32bit file, then it should work. also try to re-asign the texture via med after you exported it from blender...

hope this helps.

cheers

hi,

thx for your help. i tried to open the model in med and the texture is alright there. the transparency is in the right place when i look at it in the engine-preview.
when i save in med and open the model in wed, the texture comes in the correct 256x256x32. so far, problem solved....

but when i start the engine it gives me an error, e2005, unsupported textureformat. it is the same tga, the size hasn't changed... i even added some red spots on the texture to be sure, he uses the one i saved from photoshop and not some odd cache-texture....

me again.. my last days with the trial.

i haven't been able to solve the problem with the transparencys. i had an object with a 32bit tga in med and everything looks good in the preview. when i import it to wed, the tga still is 32bit. i build the level and when i run it i get the error e2005 "can't create d3d texture " and the object stays black. i tried this on two different machines, both with the trial installed. nothing works...

Try assigning the texture to a model in med, and placing it in wed with the transparency flag.
