If you want a non-violent weapon(oxymoron?), you can use a non spiked mace. A mace is not a piercing wewapon, so there is no implied tearing of flesh, and it generally dosent look menacing like a sword.
Maybe even a hammer, wooden stick, boxing glove, or even just bare fisted punching would work for a non violent alternative.
Though if the player can be "killed", by that I mean playing a falling or dying animation, and NOT showing some dizzy sprites (knockout), then it dosent make sense to make nonviolent weapons if the player can be visibly killed.
You're not as unique as you think you are, try again.

Yes player can be killed but thats just foling down on back. Maybe I will leave axe and use funny cartoon sprites for punches like OUCH, UF and something like that.

I'm really looking forward to play a demo, I like the graphics, it does me remind of Rose online, because of the cartoonish look....great job!

Hiya DEX. VERY nice looking game you have going there. I've been keeping an eye out for this one since you guys started it waaay back when. As for the DWARF and his axe...try using a big hunk o' meat! Like a large turkey leg or something. He can be eating it when he doesn't see the player, and when he does, he attacks the player with his big hunk o' meat. This is still an attack, but with a semi-non-violent weapon...one that kids will probably think is funny as well.

Brilliant. ITs awesome I look on the forums for the first time in several months... closing in to a year now... to find this!
Several things though... of course... I try never to spam *xough* -The levels kind of... switch, between somewhat realistic and cel- shaded. That room where you referred to several posts ago about 'cartoon textures' should always look like that. Otherwise, you'll be walking through a world of cel- shading then BAM some realisticity hits your face ;-) Basically, make them simpler, more solid colors. -Lighting. Nothing really with lighting much, but the shadows... could be softer, and maybe not so 'dark', that adds yet some more realisticity. -The tress. Those are like leave bundles hanging on wooden sticks, no offense. Could be improved.
Like I said, brilliant work so far!

Yes our hero will travel from very realistic places to the cartoon land so we will have mixture of levels. Fantasy land, old harbour, old castle, lots of variations. But everything is changable, so even we can decide to use only cartoon or only realistic style because we have a lots of levels. Game code is very close to finish, thanks to George, and after that we will start with more level details. We have about 10-12 levels so we just need to fill them up with diamonds, platforms, block obstacles, enemies, etc... to make player life harder ;-) For cartoon levels we used some of froggames textures but base is our cartoon texture pack from model-texture shop on our site.
