DEXON Knight DEMO! - DEXSOFT-GAMES.COM

We are finally close to finish our newest game DEXON Knight.
Here is a 3 levels DEMO, not official and without too much testing, so we will need a much help from any of you who eventualy starts to like game.
Just contact us on dex@dexsoft-games.com and we will provide you complete BETA game for testing.
Unrar game and run dexon.exe file.
Be informed that game is for small kids (5+) so maybe it will be too easy for you.

I also want to thank all of you from this forum who helped me a lot in this huge project, especially Shashank Dixit (known as Zazang in this forum) my main programmer, because without his briliancy this project would be abandoned long time ago.
Many thanks to David Lancaster too, who programmed huge part of the game, and George Pirvu also. Damocles also had his part in code, so guys thank you all again. Most of levels are made by Miguel Benitez, Lennart Hillen and Nadester. Music is made by Samuel Anjam. And of course great models from Andvari and Frank.
If I forgot someone please contact me to write in Credits because this is only first demo.

I never had any problems with molebox for packing files. I think only AVir reports it as virus, no other ones. And that is AVIR BUG not molebox bug so I am not worried.
So I will be very happy if we continue discusion about game and not packing. I told you this is only demo and who knows what will be the final. SO there is no virus inside 100%, thats avir program bug which dont recognize packed files from simple viruses.

So I've tested the demo. I have to say, that the graphical presentation is absolut great. I've only tested the first level.
Some things:
- The speaker sometimes fades away, and he is very Leise (i am tiered :).
- If you move the camera around, there are some gaps between the levelgeometry. No big one. You can only see white lines, I guess, between the model or blockparts.
The movement of the boxes is sometimes a bit strange. I think the boxes should move more logical, or the five year old kids will destroy the keyboard in their anger ;\)

That are some things that jumped into my ear and eye with the first test of the demo.

I let my little cousin play this game. Perhaps the target group are the best beta-testers.

I really like the style and presentation of the game. The panels (menu) fits 100% to the game.

MfG
Patrick

I really like your game. Although I guess I am not in the target audience group. ^^ A few things, that may be improved:

1. You can't change screen resolution natively. That's a bit annoying, especially when playing on a tft with another native resolution.
2. F5 is still enabled. If you press it the resolution changes and the menus get messed up. The bar from the cinemativs can be seen on the screen bottom.
3. The cristals are emitting light and casting a shadow at once. That looks odd.
4. In the sequence when you won a level, the camera tends to go too deep into the ground so you can't see dexton and see some flickering polys from the level. Appeared in the first level.
5. The dragon (which is really nice, i like it a lot) is a bit blithering. I guess it would be better if you'd do several sequences, so you don't have to keep all the information in mind, he gives on the start in first level. This way you could even let the player distinguish better between the differen types of crystals.
6. The color riddle seemed a bit odd to me. Can you get that by any other method than guessing?

@uhrwerk: the order of the colors shown int the chest.(the color riddle)

the movement of the boxes are a little strange.

And sometimes, when the dragon is talking(in levels), camera goes behind some walls, you can't see dexon nor dragon, but the wall.

And it is annaoying that in first level, when you get close to dragon(say dexon is 1.5 meters, when you get close like 4m.) dragon gives the brief again no matter how many times it already did.

i know you can skip, but while im moving and trying to move that boxes, it gets annoying. Interrupts gameplay.

Thnx, We will fix this small issues. We just want to be sure that there is no any really big error.
We will add only 1024*768 resolution beside 80*600
I am interested in FPS? Do you have good stable ones? It is set to max 60

Two other things, that came to my mind.
1. The controls are somewhat difficult to master. It seems to me that you can't change directions when jumped into the air. This is realistic, but makes hitting a certain platform when jumping rather hard.
2. The loading bar in the very beginning looks rather strange. If you use segmented progressbars you should even copy the windows behaviour (i.e. One segment appearing after another) (That's just my 50 cents... maybe others like it that way?)
