well, obviously it's a e107 cms. and for some reason, the "spearbang" logo dosn't fit in well, to say it politely. so, the sites given in the sig could barely be a basis for judging his coding skills. not to speak of the w3c non-conformity.

ok, well thanks for all the comments.
A few things , website work doesn't involve contracts that often , as i am not expecting massive company's to approach me.
Also how did you know my name, or is it in my profile??
Yes the sites in my sig, are e107 templates, although i am currently coding my own CMS. I have a few sites that are still in the works, here are two, although i can only give you guest access not admin ,as they are live sites, and cannot be edited by the public.

They are
http://hayley.awardspace.com
http://darkflame.awardspace.com
Both these sites are still to be finished, the design is awaiting completion on the first one. and on the second just some pages.
They are both mysql powered, and can be edited through an admin cp i built in, one with more power than the other. If you are interested in having a site made PM me.

The html on the first page is auto generated by a design program. I do not see the part where it is mysql powered. The html on the second page is awfully coded, never use & nbsp; as a design element, not to mention the invalid syntax of the page in the first place.

Regarding the other topic that was discussed in this thread; I don't think its a big problem for someone to be 16 if they want to work (and I can speak of my experiences as well); one at that age could have very mature design and coding skills already as well, especially since those topics have their place even in the lower years of the UK school system.

Still, here is much place for improvements. You should really try to write better and cleaner code.

I coded all the pages, none are automatically generated through any programs, also , the design is not my choice and i am just making it how they want it.
Both sites are dynamic with all the content dynamic.
The first site has dynamic images, on the first page all the content is dynamic.
On the second site, the news is dynamic, as you would see if you switched language, as the news has two tables, one for russian and one for english.

The code will be tidyed when i have finished, and commented for easy editing.

don't tell us you coded the spacer.gif tables (lines 151-202) by hand wink

PS: quirks-mode laugh

I did not complain about the way the pages look like, but the way you wrote the code for them. For instance: Instead of all those whitespaces, you could use proper CSS (e.g. margin and padding). Or were you also told to write it like this?

No idea what you mean with "dynamic images", but the code on the first page looks exactly like one generated by Adobe's ImageReady. Not to forget that it also contains its signature.

Well i have never even heard of that program, and what signature.

Dynamic images, means the image(links) are stored on the db and then displayed at random on the first page.

What site and page are you refering to with the spacer.gif tables (lines 151-202).

And the reason the reason darkflame.awardspace is coded roughly is because, one i have been rushing it as i have paid projects to work on, and two becuase of the fact i got the design after the i had done most of the coding and i was just doing a quick fix, if you have a good source viewer you can see that i have also been using CSS for the sites aswell.

Good luck on finding a nice project to work on.

For further improving your skills, I suggest to dig more into the world of div's, spans and lists, and only make use of tables when appropriate. Furthermore read stuff about usuability, layout, color matches and text markup so you can inform the client about a good design, and suggest how the design should be rather than letting them decide what to do. Clients are easy to impress if a website design looks clean and userfriendly smile.

Thanks , it isn't so much the design i get stuck on , it's the graphics , i can't really make them, but considering i have only been coding for a few months and have a lot more to learn , i believe i can and will keep improving. When i have released my CMS, which will be in a few months i will be looking for people to help with graphics , and will hopefully get some work then.

Speaking from experience, I personally think that you should start with getting your own personal website up and running. When a potential customer is looking for someone to build a website, the first thing they are going to do is look at your portfolio to see what standard of work you can produce. It will be good practice and a great experience for you.

Also make sure to meet the http://validator.w3.org standards laugh
