Hi,

we're currently working on a rather big project, which needs to be tested soon. Before we start a public or closed beta test, however, I would like to know your opinion on a few things.

Thanks for participating smile

I didn't hit the others, but...

As a result of my beta replies, I would love to be notified when such bug is fixed.

I would report via instant messaging and pm, but I would fave an actual tracking software.

I'm interested in coopereating since, I love to find faults and point a finger to them. It makes me feel better than the othes, and I don't need to slice my wrists that day smile

I voted honestly:

I want to preplay the game, see what's good and what's not so good, and most likely wont buy it afterwards.

Of course found bugs should also be fixed.

Perhaps getting a beta-tester discount and being able to try the software earlier definitely are reasons for me to participate in an open beta.

Most of the time it turns out some of the more serious bugs are still in there, so it really depends on the kind of software whether or not I really like being part of the beta, but for some programs / systems it's worth the effort.

Firstly, thanks for your votes and opinions. I find them really helpful smile
Secondly, I realise that I should have told you about the type of the project, as it is indeed not a game. Our project is a collection of servers that implement various internet protocols as well as other services (i.e. http, ftp, account services, search, project management, sql (based on sqlite) etc.).

We are looking forward to start an open beta test for the http and ftp server in the next weeks, based on the results of this survey.

I really like PHeMoX's idea by the way. A discount for active beta testers seems to be a good choice. We'll definitely consider this. smile

Michael

previously, our beloved testDummy had posted something very... helpful... here, and my somewhat sarcastic post pointed the finger in his direction, not yours. nevermind. testDummy deleted his post, and as the new ubb board doesn't leave shadow posts, it's hard to see that this comment wasn't aiming at you.

Re: Survey: Beta Tests [Re: testDummy]

that's all that remained (my comment header). sorry.

oh ok. The new version turns out to be more and more annoying... maybe they should start improving their ways to beta test the software wink
