Once again we've had this problem since upgrading to A7 and it occurs in A7.07 and A7.10.1.
We have a level with 2 large terrains and 6 large geometry complexes. We drive a physics car, (modified buggy and code from car demo), around these levels. The large geometry sections are made up entirely of large map entities.
Sometimes when driving through the geometry sections, in certain locations, the Car self destructs, ie. the wheels get attached on opposite sides away from the vehicle slightly, and you can't move. If you wait long enough the car will snap back into shape and you can drive off again?

It is always in the same places when it occurs, and you can be going very slowly when it occurs. It's nothing to do with a high speed crash or anything. It's like there is a "black hole" in the level?

Jethro.

We traced the problem to a map entity in the level.
Since it was a road surface just above the ground we made it passable.

This solved the problem.

Note there were NO errors with the map entity when built and we didn't do anything wrong, it's just another workaround.

BTW JCL, because you locked the other topic, I couldn't reply, we'll try to use Mesh objects from now on.

I make my bread and butter from the projects we develop, so we tend to use what works, because we have a full project cycle of 3 months, we don't have much time to fault find released versions of software.
We tend to use what works, and assumed we were doing something wrong with the mesh objects, that were clipping out.
I'll look into this and give you more details.

Jethro.

Ok, just let me know if any problem remains despite using mesh mode.

When you were using the code from our car demo, if I remember right it contains a function to detach wheels on collision. It's possible that gaps in the road collided with the wheels and triggered that function.

OK I looked up lighting 2.0 in the manual heres what it says.

Lighting 2.0. A7.07 Activate radiosity lighting. Experimental feature, to be used at own risk.

AT OWN RISK? Maybe thats why we stick to old known things that used to work.

No, in this case better don't stick to old things but disregard the manual.

Lighting 2.0 was experimental in prior A7 versions. I just forgot to remove the warning from the manual. I've seen lots of beautiful levels with lighting 2.0 meanwhile, and have not heard of any problem so far with the released version.
