hi people

its a strange thing, when holding down certain keys the corresponding var of the third press appears and acts as zero, for instance if i press and hold key_cul, key_space and key_cuu, then key_cuu is zero until i release one of the other two. or key_cul, cuu, THEN space, SPACE wont work.

it DOES work with cud cur and space though in any order which seems strange to me. and its not a problem with my code cos it even happens with the demonstration programs that came with 3DGS and its not the keyboard cos another keyboard had the exact same problem

it hasnt been a problem before but now im wondering if anyone might shed light on the matter? it doesnt seem like an acknex bug but this forum is more likely a place to start than any..

thanks!

I looked for the key problem in a completely unrelated program and it only happens within acknex..

It's dependant on how your keyboard is built ( and certainly, your two keyboards may be built in the same way ). Some keyboards only allow certain keys to be pressed at the same moment, and thus blocks other keys or makes them invalid.

Some other keyboards allow any key to be pressed at the same moment as any other key.

So it's really just a luck thing.

Do you have "sticky-keys" enabled? In XP and 98 there is a control panel option for key presses as well. And international settings [like ascii input coding]. The input shouldn't allow some things to be pressed simultaneously, other things it expects and anticipates the correct sequence.

thanks for your replies

but it isnt to do with my keyboard because the trouble only happens within acknex, and all those keyboard "accessibility options" have been off.. im gonna go with the highly unprofessional option of changing the game controls away from spacebar, at least for now
