I'm not too sure how to describe this, but I'll give it a go. I want to create a moving fog effect, like clouds of fog that surrounds the player and moves with the wind. I'm not really sure where to start because I've never had to do anything like this before.
I tried to find some video or screenshot from a game that uses this effect, but I couldn't find anything good enough, it's very common though.
I'm not asking for the complete code, just some help, I'm also not asking for a complex shader version, just something simple.
If I haven't explained it well enough, just say and I'll have another look for a video. Hope someone can help.

Do a search for volumetric fog. Since it works with a model you may be able to get the effect by animating the model. I don't have any code for it but I think it was explored in a thread "back when".

you could change the fog distance dynamiclly through your script
to bring it closer and further away i did this once to create a sandstorm type effect or use particle effects like a smoke or smog sprite same color as your fog and move em in direction of wind

also ello made a nice hieght fog in the contributions that might help too

i'd use particles for that, spawn them around player and slowly move in random direction or according to the wind speed. main thing is a good bitmap for the particle
