Hi !

I'm quite excited about the new ent_decal feature, but it behaves strange if it is used on terrains here a sample shot



I've also uploaded the project of which i took this picture (a small project only to show what i mean).
I've also added a terrain called test_terr_2.hmp to this project which shows how i thought the result would look like
here's the link (it needs to be copied into the browser to work)

P.S.: It's also possible that the feature works as planned and I just thought it would behave in a total other way ^^

P.P.S .: the line and the ball are just there to indicate from where the trace is coming ^^

About the file - when i click on the link i also get 1000's of ads, but when i copy the link and insert into the adress bar and then press enter - everthingn works fine smirk guess that host isn't free for no reason xD

To dig out this old thread: the decal seems to be ok. It just looks strange on the image, but when you move close to the terrain, you see that it is mapped correctly to the terrain surface.

The strange gaps and distortions in the decal are caused by the steep peaks in your terrain, and a hit.nx decal normal that is not perpendicular to the terrain. Only surfaces oriented towards the decal normal get painted over. The critical angle is about 85 degrees, and some sides of the peaks are over the limit - therefore the gaps. You can not map a decal on much steeper angles because at 90 degrees the decal would become infinitely long.
