$695 is not really that expensive then, if you look at A7 pro :[

i also got it for $695 but with the dollar course back then it was something like 500€. i won't upgrade it anymore though until it is a full 3d-suite with character animation and everything. i wasn't very impressed with the 401 previews so far.

It is 200 less so it is indeed a great offer. You get a very intuitive modeler, a great unwrapping tool, a 3d-painting and sculpting tool. I looked at their website and found that some very skilled artists changed to Modo even if they are used to Maya and other very expensive tools. They said modo has more modeling tools better integrated. You dont need scripts and plugins for advanced tasks like in Maya. Max customers are interested in Modo because of the options of 3d-painting and sculpting and the better uv-tools.

You can also buy ZBrush, Bodypaint-3d and maybe Silo to have similar functionality. But you will pay more money then.

modo is a great modeler but only if you don't need something like maya's construction history or max's modifier stack for what you do.

Yes, especially if you look at many users here. Did you see how many of them are asking how to convert models from Max? If they can afford Max then Modo is very cheap for them



The costs of Modo are only 1/10th of Maya's. So I am not sure if I want to spend 10 times the money only to get a construction history in Maya

I love modo its a great tool and the FBX works great with A7, yes 401 maybe out in 3-5 months but you will get a discount for being a modo user

Companies like Pixar and ILM use it, I think it has one of the best UV editor out there.
