Hi, I have not been here for a long time and have not even used my gamestudeo A5 for quite a while, but my son is now interested in learning and I can't remember many details.

I am having a problem with making the water block passable. We are following the tutorial and making the block, assigning water texture and clicking the passable flag, but the model just walks on top. Does anyone know what we are doing wrong?

Thanks for any help and sorry for such a noob question. blush

I think a water block had to be a separate map entity, not a block in the map. But A5 was really a long time ago. I remember there was a demo "office.wdl" with a water pool, have you tried that and compared with your water?

Yes, I have been trying to do the same with the office demo. I made a block and saved it as an entity map. The only thing I can see different is there is an assigned action called waterblock, but there is no such action in my menu.

I know I had to figure this out way back when too and finally did. I don't think there was an action to it though.

Thanks for your help.

dont you need to tell the character to ignore_passable stuff when moving (c_move, ent_move)?

Hmm not sure what you mean. I assigned the player_move, player_walk, player_swim, and none of them help. I put the whole room on passable and I can pass through the wall, but it wont let me pass through the floor. I think blocks are suppose to be passable when you assign a sky or water texture to it.
Craziness! smile

Sorry, I don't know how Gamestudio has changed, but in A5 you just choose actions from a menu. I know you can do your own codes, but I don't know how to. I have used both of the commands and tried it. I tried to learn, but like learning another language, I don't use it enough. I know how to look at it and understand it a bit. When it adds the actions it just uses the "include" command. I know I have crated this water pool before, but was so long ago. If my son really gets into this and can do well, I was going to see about updating it.

Thank you so much for taking the time to help me. Any other suggestions? I am still working on it. I have a NEED to know. lol wink

If I download the new trial version will it mess up the A5 version?
