Hello, I was just curious if you could set a model to have the metal effects in only certain parts. i.e. a shotgun has a metal barrel and wood base. It would be nice to have wood that isnt shiny sometimes, but I would understand if it isn't implemented.

Probably the only "other" way to do that would be to make the barrel a separate model, and set its metal flag, and attach them in code. (IE have the Stock do and ent_create on teh barrel and the barrel run a constant loop that attaches itself to the stock).

Well I'm making a program you load a model into and select the faces you want to be certain materials. Then it will generate a script and the split models.
