So I'm trying to solve this whole animation thing, and I've made a test animation which imported well into MED.

However, the bones don't seem to move with the animations like they should. I checked out the Player.mdl which was made in MED, and it does the same thing. The bones stay in place while the mesh is animated.

The models do move when I manually move the bones.

Does this mean the animations have become vertex animations, or are they still bone animations?

what version of 3dgs do you have?
you could see if it has something about that or similar bug in here: http://www.conitec.net/beta/bugs.htm

7.60. I couldn't find this problem on there, so I assume it's not a bug.

To give you a better idea of what my exact problem is, open up player.mdl in MED (the one that comes with 3dgs). Press the animate button, and rotate a bone. There is no problem with that. The mesh moves with the bone, just like it should.
Now undo that, and go to another frame in the animation.

What I see is the mesh moving, but not the bones. Is this a problem?

UPDATE: This bone problem really isn't too big a deal for my project, as small as it is, but there is one that's bothering me. All the models I import into MED are facing 90 degrees clockwise. They're upright and fine that way, but they're rotated wrong.

I've imported the Player model from 3Dgs into 3DS Max, and it is rotated 90 degrees the opposite direction. Does this mean I'll have to make all of my models this way so they show up right in MED?
