I know this has been talked about in this forum before, but I'm having a very specific problem.

My model is built out of various parts. Hull, interior and windows. I added about 5 skins and set them to the different parts of the model (I didn't assign a texture or even checked the box at the skin settings). Since I'm not using any textures or bump mapping for this model, I won't need skin2 etc. for any other purpose.

So far I'm getting right what I want, but when the alpha amount in the skin settings is changed, the transparency looks very strange. The part that has the skin assigned is actually transparent, but only for other models behind it, if there's a part of the same model it will show just like there is nothing in front of it. Same for the skymap.

I added some screens of my testobject to explain what I mean.

alpha set to 100:

alpha set to 80:

The part is completely invisible, except on the model behind.

I know that this worked alright on an older Gamestudio version, but with 7.6 it doesn't.

Maybe, it is a problem with the ground behind it, not with the model and its skin itself?
I got the same problem, already with version6.341, that a transparent map entity disappeared when there was a terrain with detail mapping behind it.

I built a testmap to try out if it's a problem that only shows with certain models but it's really always like that. Normaly only parts of the same model don't get affected by the transparent material in front of them, but apparently the skytexture too.

I'm out of ideas now.
I will report this as a bug if nobody can tell me how to fix it. It's really annoying, especialy because it worked before.

so long...
