In Aum 56 the bump map technique by matt is explained. This is awesome and I got it to work. I have my normal map on my model but how and where do I apply the specular map? The example mentions to apply it through the alpha channel. Do I do this by creating an alpha channel in the color map? I appreciate any help you all can provide.
Are you sure it's Aum56? Looks more like Aum57 to me. That piece of code is a bit outdated now; the predefined shaders (the ones that come with GameStudio) include fresh versions for bump mapping, etc.
Thanks for getting back to me. It could be AUM57 I'm not super sure. I know it was in the 50s I know it's outdated code.... my project is a weird mix of A6 standrads with the new A7 stuff. I don't think it's meshing too well. I did set the material on my object. What I've noticed is if I try to give a bump map to a map entity the texture renders as white at run time. Why does this happen? If I set an "effect" on a bsp based level object it appears fine. Is there any reason for this? I apologize if I'm unclear.
Im new to shaders myself, but one thing Ive learned... BEWARE ALPHA CHANNELS!!! You may have an un-intended alpha channel on one of yor skins that is showing through.
