I am writing game where the main part of it is a 2-d map of a medievil city. (essentially you are looking down on the city from above) When you mouse over certain buildings in the map, the building "lights up" indicating that you can click on it to enter it.

The way im doing this is i copied and pasted the building from the main map, photoshopped it to make it "light up", then I put it in a panel that i align with the main map image. when the player mouses over the building, i make the "lit" version panel visible, thus making the building appear to light up.

This works perfectly until i take me desktop resolution up to 1680 x 1050. that is the highedt resolution my video card supportds. the next resoution down is 1600 x 1024, in that and all resolutions under it, everything lines up fine, but at 1680 x 1050 suddenly all the "lit" building panles are off.

Why are things mis-aligned only in 1680 x 1050??

It doesn't sound like a resolution that 3dgs would support I don't think. I've had this problem with panels before but Im sorry I don't know how to solve it. You could try making them sprites and laying them over the top of the original buildings.

For some reason, my ambition always seems to beat my ability.
