Ericmor is right. You can do all this, you can even do it in C++ with DirectX, in Ogre or Irrlicht. But then you need lots of programmers and dozens of years for programming missing features.
But all these features like AI, facial animation, physics and even middleware like SpeedTree is already integrated in the UDK:
http://udk.com/features.html

The downside of the UDK is that you need expensive modelling tools for all your artists involved in animation (Max, Maya or XSI, so only Autodesk products are supported).
But other tools can be used for static geometry.

So it is still quite expensive in the end.

If you miss the source code, then C4 is the better route, as I already mentioned. It has quite a lot of features but not as much as the UDK.

I had a bad past experience with torque, and unity is as much appealing to me now as torque was back them, hence my skepticism.
That doesn't imply that the engine is a 'TORQUE', but the pattern repeats itself sometimes, so i'll be in the safe side this time... meaning: i KNOW for sure that i can make a game in A7 and sell it without further problems, and Unity only looks good and doesn't mention fees from released titles anywere.
A7 is very clear: Extra edition, shows logo, Pro edition, don't need but pay USD 1000.
If Unity has a page explaining prices for commercial games that i didn't saw, that thing is REALLY FREE for commercial use, wich is really weird!
Unless they can do something like charging you after you start having profits after some juridical hole in the END USER LICENSE AGREEMENT, Unity might be a breaktrought in game development policy.

You don't need to guess, you can simply read the Unity license and you can download it for free.

I don't like their ranking !

UT3 is room / BSP Based, Crysis is more terrain based , big worlds and destructible things.

It's not really comparable, and if you must compare, i would put Crysis N°1.

Indeed cryengine3 is more powerful than cry2 and more optimised but only consideration on ranking is not only engine features/class. UE3 delivered far more titles than cryengine2, works great on consoles on old pcs.(i was able to play ut3 in lowest settings on a ati x200m 128mb(shared) in a vry reasonable frame rate.)

Both engines are great, but id still rank ue3 higher than cryengine2/3(for now).
