I need an alternative method of SCAN_FLAG2. I need a way to mark a particular group of entities so that c_scan detects only them. For example if there was a SCAN_FLAG3 it would be great, but there isn't frown

C'mon guys, Noone knows way to mark a particular group of entities so that c_scan can scan only them ? It's very important for me 'cuz I'm programming the AI by myself but now I'm stuck.

if you want c_scan to target only certain entities you could give these entities a special skill value like my.skill30=1234;
check for that in event function

if you dont know what i mean , i had made a small demo for someoneelse already and i'll give you that

Even if I give the entities my.skill30=1234; how to make the c_scan function scans only them and find the ''you'' pointer of the closest entity from that certain group?

c_scan detects every entity you can only ignore some of them. The you pointer is automaticly set to the closest dedected entity.

to set the you pointer for a specal entity of the group, use a skill or variable for detection a group of entites, then check the distance from the scan origin and set the you pointer for the closest

I totally agree that there should be some "layering" system and every scan and c_trace should only detect objects on a certain layer (given as a parameter to the scan or trace). It would be much more comfortable.

2 months later and I still have the same problem. frown I just can't find a way to make c_scan detects only a certain group of entities. I gave the entities skill1=1; and and the function after c_scan runs only if you.skill1==1 BUT c_scan detects ONLY the NEARSET entity and ignores the others in the scan cone.
Any ideas ???

P.P. EVENT_SCAN doesn't help me....

I don't have much time at the moment, but look up "ent_next" in the manual. It should be of use to make a custom scan of your own type with its own conditions.

You don`t can use the mode "SCAN_LIMIT"? That scans only to entities with a setting "ENABLE_SCAN"

yes, but there could be a lot of entities with ENABLE_SCAN set from different types. I need something more concrete - for example skill1, skill2...
I'll try the method with ent_next
