THE STORY
So I was playing Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and being a fan of the team-based PvE gameplay in the World of Warcraft endgame, I had the thought "Gee, I wish Oblivion had co-op multiplayer."

The idea made perfect sense, at least to myself grin
I like the fantasy setting, I like the action-oriented combat in Oblivion, and I like the team play in WoW.

So I sat in quiet meditation in front of my computer for a half hour- then coded for 3 hours and ended up with a playable version. (Using the built in multiplayer functionality)

THE GAME (currently)
At the moment theres two playable classes, a Fighter and a Red Mage. The Fighter can hit things with his mace, and the Red Mage can cast a fire spell.
(The Fighter and Red Mage are the included-with-GS guard.mdl and warlock.mdl respectively.)

There are enemies as well! They are all scorpions. (Model included with GS also)

There are still many features to add and kinks to work out but from what I've produced in the time I've produced it in so far it looks promising! laugh

At the moment theres a version available on http://clydeshaffer.com for download, so go ahead and check it out!

works fine for me but, in -sv -cl mode movement is very jaggy.

Really? That's odd... maybe the mouse sensitivity being too high is combining with lag, though if you're in -sv -cl mode getting jaggy movement there shouldn't be any lag for yourself?

On my own machine I've run a server and 3 clients in windowed mode and had little performance degradation, though my more recent tests have been on university computers in the cluster that are already conveniently LAN'ed together and have their IP address on a sticky on the monitor.

Perhaps I should look for a less powerful machine to test performance effects?

I'm gonna go eat lunch and then work on the game some more, aiming to get to the place where I can focus on content.

my machine is powerful enough to run the game 10 times with no problems, i dont think it was because of that. i'll check the mouse sensityity.

edit: not related to mouse sens. also happens when i dont use mouse at all.

it is not very visible if you looks from back, it's more visible when you are looking to character from top.

Very strange... I'll look out for it, though I haven't observed it myself during tests with the same version.

Got back to work on this game since I'm no longer so badly out of ideas!
I've decided that I'm going to forgo the use of the more traditional character classes and roles- and use some weirder classes laugh

First up is the Duelist! A master fighter with rapier and/or flintlock pistol in hand, this gent shuns the use of heavy armor to gain speed and agility. Although he isn't covered in plate metal- his skill with the blade provides more than adequate defenses, and in a pinch he can take out a distant attacker with his gun.

Next new character, the Trooper- just finished today.


Fights enemies using his musket, and while that reloads he can also use his saber. While the Duelist relies on his sword as his primary means of offence and only uses his pistol on enemies outside of immediate reach, the Trooper does the reverse and relies primarily on his firearm.
