well, the title says it all. I wonder whether there is a shader for 3DGS which can produce real-time self-shadows on ordinary .mdl-files like there's one for terrains. I do not intend to use it on every model at all, just for the player and very few others so it doesn't matter that much if it is not very performant, but does it *exist*?

Yep, that's exactly what I've been looking for! This explains why I've been unable to find the term "self-shadow" with the search function, because it's called differently in GS
