Hi there,

well, the title says it all. I wonder whether there is a shader for 3DGS which can produce real-time self-shadows on ordinary .mdl-files like there's one for terrains. I do not intend to use it on every model at all, just for the player and very few others so it doesn't matter that much if it is not very performant, but does it *exist*?

am quite sure the regular stencil shadows do what you want, look at shadows in the manual

stencil is slow, but ok when you have only few models to use with.

Yep, that's exactly what I've been looking for! This explains why I've been unable to find the term "self-shadow" with the search function, because it's called differently in GS wink

it's not called differently. "stencil shadow" doesn't mean self-shadow, they just do what you call self-shadow.
