Hey everyone, Tomorrow Armor is still kicking! Recently I've been tweaking and improving the flamethrowing units in the game. Before this, the only way to use a flamethrower was to have it used as a special ability with a cooldown. For flamethrowing units I just gave them a shorter cooldown so they could use it more constantly. But since one of the main playable characters in the game will be using a flamethrower as his primary weapon, I needed to give it more range and killing power. Currently it can set flammable plants on fire, it can suffocate units next to flames, set units on fire, and reduce armor. However it is greatly affected by strong winds: [video:youtube] http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MyZhez9olUw[/video] (btw, why wont it embed the youtube video inside this post using the "enter media tag" option?)

The effect itself is nice, and the controls/gameplay look great. I'd make sure to add more red into the effect though, and try to let the smoke appear a little later, after the flame has burned. (or above the flame only). Atm, Smoke and Fire overlay and those parts look so grey-muddish, not bright-fireish. Do you know what I mean? The fire effect on the opponents/other objects needs much more red as well http://www.intuitor.com/moviephysics/flame.JPG, and some black smoke would look cool here.

hey minor update: Terrain shadow baking, scene objects, weather system http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nMvS5E4vGP4Here is how the shadow baking works in the game. Its been implemented much earlier in the development, but now you get to see how it works. I can run the shadow bake function, then save that image out to put into the terrain's texture. The scene objects are currently objects that can be destroyed, but not fully destroyed since they are obstacles to pathfinding. Nodes cannot see through these objects, so these scene objects can stop node to node visibility. The weather system is added for effect, sight ranges are reduced, and wind can push shells off their trajectory.

Mind telling us how you made the shadow-baking effect? The lines/planes shooting from the sun to the ground..? They look like they'd be great for many debugging purposes...
