I think the default movement keys in Wed should be changed to:

View Zoom In = W (Move Camera Position In)
View Zoom OUt = S (Move Camera Position Out)
View Move Eye R = D (Strafe Right)
View Move Eye L = A (Strafe Left)
View Move Eye Up = E (Slide Up)
View Move Eye Down= C (Slide Down)

So left and right hands together:

WE Left hand on these keys.
ASD
C

...with right hand used to move mouse to move edit cam about it's own axis.

Also:
"Rotate Eye" The icon with the curved arrow-- that mode currently switches off when you select an object. That needs to stay active until it is deactivated by the user. It breaks up movement.

Movement in Wed would be improved by this. Of course the user can change this, but more intuitive controls would be an easy
fix.

Also when duplicating an object, pressing shift now sometimes moves the editor camera. Not good.

Another change might be:
F1 = Help/Current
F2 = Activate Ged
F3 = Activate Sed
F4 = Activate Med
F5 = Activate "Shader Viewer" or perhaps better for use... Emre Sasmaz's In-Game Shader Editor
F6 = Assignable to favorite 3D art package
F7 = Assignable to favorite 2D art package
F8 = Assignable to favorite sound editor.
F9 = Assignable to favorite installer.
F10-F12 = Assignable

All of the F1-12 keys should be buttons on the GUI as well with
unique icons for third party 3D, 2D and Sound editors. Buttons
would read:
F1="?"

F2="[icon image of car "engine"..don't know for GED,"... or word 'GED'"

F3= "icon image of script on page or word 'SED'"

F4= "icon image of person or prop or word 'MED'"
(I like pictures instead of words. Words are less intuitive
for non-western hemisphere users.)

F5= :"icon of three circles overlapping with dif. colors or shades each"

F6= "icon of '3D' with type in 3D" defaults to activate Blender

F7= "icon of '2D' with type in 2D" defaults to activate Gimp

F8= "icon of speaker" defaults to activate Audacity

F9- "icon of digits flowing in box" to activate Inno Setup installer

F12-- remaining buttons should be assignable to any exe and
feature ability to type button name up to 5 characters.

In addition, within Wed when right clicking on model entities give option to open in Med.
Sound entities (is this still in A7-- not sure) should open sound package (Audacity by default)/sound icon previously mentioned.
(Texture manager should default to standard.wad so user sees available textures.)
Clicking 2D images from wad should open 2D package associated with 2D icon previously mentioned.

I think all this would help workflow and help everything feel more cohesive. I'm not sure if GED is to replace WED one day, but perhaps WED can become the "BSP/brush tool" and GED can be the alpha world edit tool.

Also, this is a way to leverage all of the freeware editors out there and add more depth to Wed without much liability of work relative to other new features. Also, Wed currently appears a bit "empty." New buttons would reduce that feeling.
