Holla,

we´ve three days until we need a gold master for our current release. laugh

And now we´ve realized a big problem:
Even with video_aspect = 1.333; we got a lot of misplaced content.
E.g. panels are out of the screen, entities are out of the view.

We´ll try to set compability = 7;
Any other ideas then that?

This is another problem.
I can´t / I´m not allowed to show screens in public. crazy

The panels are no problem, really. But the entities.
I´ve got a bunch of level entities which are covered by a panel.
This panel has a transparent hole in the middle of it.
You can see exactly one entity in the center of the panel, through the hole.
Normally, it´s perfectly aligned in the middle of the screen.
But only at 4:3.

Thanks a bunch for every guess. wink

Shouldn't you set video_aspect to 16:9 = 1,777 for 16:9 views instead of 1.333

Now I´m confused...
So I should _not_ set video_aspect to 1.333 to enforce the 4:3 mode?

But we´ve had problems without this variable as well.
I don´t really understand what the engine does when the aspect is 16:9.

So you mean I should read out the aspect of the monitor and set video_aspect according to the returned value?

That's how I understood it. Unfortunately I had never the opportunity to test it on a widescreen, but how else could it make sense? You can't enforce a 4:3 mode. If the screen ist 16:9 then it is 16:9 regardless of the selected video mode. The only way of enforcing an aspect ratio is to physically change the monitor (with a saw or a hammer ;)) or run in windowed mode leaving empty blocks on the left and right side for enforcing 4:3 or on top and bottom of the screen for enforcing a 16:9 ratio.

As far as I understood the simple line:
Code:
video_aspect = screen_size.x / screen_size.y;


should do the trick.

Hi!

I just tested my wide screen with the following code and the panels are bigger but they are where there supposed to be.

video_aspect = 4./3.;
video_mode = 7; // start resolution 800 x 600
video_screen = 1; // start in fullscreen mode
video_depth = 32; // otherwise 32 bit mode

In the meantime we where also able to get the panels
aligned. And the view is perfectly aligned to - it is rather logical that our panel does not fit, because we haven´t scaled it.

So please nervermind, thanks and go on. grin
