Does anyone know if .BVH 3D animation files can be imported into MED and applied to a model with the appropriate bone structure?

Hey...
You are attempting to use "Motion Body Capture Data" (MOCAP)...
BVH files are used through 3dsMax (Mostly)...
-You can create a model in Med then export it as an .fbx file...
-Import that file into 3dsMax (Lots of variables)...
-Attach the MOCAP data files (Using the "Motion Mixer")...
-Export as .fbx
-Import that file back into Med and "Re-Texture"...
That is explained very simply.
It's much more complicated than that...
There are tons of variables to be understood along the way...
Get yourself a copy of 3dsMax and start teaching yourself...

Blender can also import BVH files, export to FBX and won't cost you US$3,495.
(though it is free to download and use for students laugh )

annoyingly though, it won't import fbx models but can import and export both obj and 3ds files

You Sir... Nailed it!
The problem with obj and 3ds files is that of re-texturing not to mention that sometimes the different meshes get scattered when you re-import back into Med...
I'm sure there are many other ways to use MOCAP data successfully...
Through years of growling and pounding on the keyboard I finally found one method, as described, that works...
The price for Max hurts bad... And, learning how to use it does too... But... what an extremely useful tool...

Thank you for the answers. I am indeed trying to use mostion capture data to animate my game models. I found this motion capture software package that looks like it works pretty good, and is on sale atm. it *looks* like it makes motion capture as simple as hooking up a kinect camera (or some playstation eye cameras) and hitting record on the software.

Im sure theres more to it than that, but the idea of desktop motion capture that I could actually afford is just exciting me.

I already know that I can use it in DAZ studio to animate my renders, but if i could use it for MED model animation as well, that would make it easily worth the price.

I'll check out Blender, Mr. Guest. If it can import and BVH file and export to a .3ds file, that makes things relatively simple. MED can import .3ds.

FragmaSoft is cheap and can import/export 3DGS mdl formats
and bvh as well as a lot of other formats.
