Hi
What you need is the Isometric Tutorial. I personally started to learn Lite-C with it, but do it only after going through the official tutorials. As I remember, its up-to-date Lite-C version is included in AUM-100.
it includes a simple 2D tile system on 3D surface, mouse and camera handling, and a simple pathfinder (really fool but might work).
And you can check my Pathfinder Demo too, if you need better grid based pathfinding, but my code is a bit messy... (

The 2D version works on a terrain or flat level, the 2.5D version can handle height differences of grids too (e.g. you can't go up to a wall if there is no ladder), and the 3D version uses a 3 level grid system simulating ground level and building floors.
