Hi fellow GameStudioers, I am very new to GameStudio and I have a few questions regarding template scripts. See, I am trying to create an FPS quickly using the template scripts from t7_blanklevel, but I want to have my own customised HUD. Is there any way to edit these template scripts? I am using the free version by the way.

To your question: I'm sorry, I've never changed anything at the templates so I don't know.

But theres something important to say (and I think most people in this forum will tell you the same):

From my experience I can say that it is much better to learn lite-c and write the stuff on your own.

The templates are nice to play around with and to learn some new things from, but if you're planning to get a
nice and smooth gameplay you shouldn't use them.
I've never seen a finished Game (commercial or non-commercial) which was created with one of the templates.

Yes, it will take much more time but it will also be much better and you can make everything as you want it
without having to deal with code that you didn't even write or don't understand.

Now please don't get me wrong! I started with the templates, too. I played around with them for some time
but I knew that I won't come very far with them so I started to learn lite-c.

Anyway, if you really want to create something with a nice look and gameplay you should learn lite-c.
I suggest you to start with the workshops ( and try to understand them grin ), they helped me a lot, too.

btw: Welcome to the forum wink

Hi Kartoffel, thanks for the mighty fast reply!

Thanks for the advice, actually my main issue is trying to get used to using this game engine, because I came from XNA Game Studio (using C#) background so using editors and attaching actions to entities are somewhat foreign to me.

But yes, guess its time to ditch the templates and delve into some serious Lite-C code, thanks again!

You're welcome wink

Lite-C isn't very hard to learn.
And if you'll get any problems just ask!
