I was hesitant to upgrade to DX9.0c and A6 6.31.4 but there are features I wanted to use so I went ahead and did it. Now I have some problems that I wanted to avoid.

Shearing -> is horrible with the new version. I searched the forum and found that I should turn OFF d3d_triplebuffer. I did this and shearing is gone, but a worse problem appears with about the top 10% of the screen showing a strange jagged pattern. This pattern prevents me from seeing the fps display on the debug panel and from seeing the menu to exit the game.

I am using a GeForce card that was working flawlessly prior to the upgrade of A6 and DirectX. Please note this because it is going to be more disappointing if I'm told its the card. Card was working perfect before.

Is there anything else I can try?

Regards, Ron

I noticed one other thing I should have put in my post. I did download the latest nVidia drivers for WinXP - they were listed as specific for XP and DX9.0c. The problem described above occurred even with the new drivers.

I have also seen the problem I am experiencing called "tearing" and "vertical tearing". I'm not sure which term is correct.

- Tearing can occur on some systems that don't properly support triple buffering. Just don't activate d3d_triplebuffer and you won't have tearing. So I consider this not a real problem.

- Your description of visual artifacts does not sound like a driver problem. It sounds more like a hardware problem either of your 3D card, your power supply, or the AGP port. Problems of this sort are indeed hard to determine because they only occur under certain circumstances. I'm afraid I don't have a ready solution regarding this problem.

I'm moving this thread to the engine forum. Maybe another user has had a similar problem and can share his experiences. Posting a screenshot and some more info about your problem could help.

At what video resolution do you run the engine and what desktop size do you use?

May be your desktop is 1280x1024 and you run at 1280x960. This is a vertical difference of about 10 percent.
I`m not shure wether changing this can solve the problem but you can try it out.

regards

I had the same problem with the scene rendered in what seemed like panels that
would shear away and cause horrible artifacts. On my video card you can set profiles for executables, forcing vertical sync on the game engine solved this problem, though I don't know if it is a d3d parameter available in A_6 I think newsound is right about your desktop versus game resolution if you can't force vertical sync.

I have a geforce Fx 5600 256mb and I download the last dirver for XP 4.93 i guess. and then Something happen.. Like black Lines ( like big squares) or sometimes it divides halp the screem , and its crazy.. I have to restart the pc , to get it work .. And this didn't happen before.. I Had to downlooad the last driver cause of Dx9c support.. And I guess that the problem is the DirectX9.c Thing... cause with 9.B it did not happen...

And.. I noticed that If i activate post processing it appears, and if i turn it off.. its solved..( But thins black things with post processing on , just happen sometimes..) I already though about by another card..
