Hey guys, i have downloaded a sonic (classicsonic.rar) model from 3d-game-studio.de. I can't open the "dae" file with MED or WED, i can import the "3ds" file but the textures where lost. The textures are included in a other folder, how can i convert this file into a "mdl" with textures? thanks Hallo Leute, ich hab ein Sonic (classicsonic.rar) Model von der Seite 3d-game-studio.de runtergeladen. Danke

Fragmotion could be one way. A good and not expensive tool. moved to "third party tools" cause i dont know a way to solve this with 3dgs itself ( if someone else, ill move again ). MED and WED can import models in many 3D formats: FBX, 3DS, X, ASE, OBJ, MDL, MD2, ASC, and Milkshape. Additionally, terrain can be imported from heightmap images. Further formats are supported through MEDs own import/export filters and through Milkshape import/export filters that can be directly plugged in MED. edit: Try to copy the textures into same folder as the 3ds file. Maybe this helps. Hope the animations are ok btw ^^ ... cheers

You're welcome. About image formats: Image files are used for importing textures , model or terrain skins, terrain heightmaps, sprites, bitmaps and fonts, and for exporting screenshots. Recommended image formats are TGA, DDS, PCX and WAD. Also supported, but not recommended are BMP, PNG and JPG images - they are read through the DirectX library and thus depend on the DirectX version, and have other shortcomings. The selected image format does matter because all formats have their specific advantages and disadvantages: moved to the editors btw... edit: If the UV mapping of ur skin is there, it doesnt matter if the files are found when import is done. Add a new texture, select the groups / model click "set skin", load texute : done.
