hi,i just found the new hlsl terrain shader on wiki page.

i try it and it work fine for the multitexturing,but it didn't work for dynamic lighting ...i have enable #define DXLIGHTING but it seem didn't work for me.(i didn't enable the #define SHADOWMAP)

i have read that terrains didn't support dynamic light previously but this shader have mention the dynamic light support...so did anyone can get the dynamic lighting on terrains with this shader?

for me this shader give me error on "too many instruction slots(134),allow by target(vs_1_1) is 128".so i reduce the dynamic light to 4 just work.


btw ,i have geforce FX 5200 and 3dgs pro 6.31.2 .

Hi there!
First off you should get the latest version of 3DGS; it's A6.31.4 already (it shouldn't matter that much for your shader though...) As for your problem; it's a bit strange because at my pc it does seem to work, haven't checked it the direct x lighting though, but I mean the multi texturing part.. Can you post your code, or is it exactly like at the wiki page?
The error message could mean your hardware doesn't support it somehow, but that's odd because a Geforce 5200 should be capable of handling ps 1.1 and vs 1.1, but that 'target' it's talking about is your pc, so..........
(When I get back to my pc I will check this)

hi there!

i just update the a6.31.4 today and try fews test on it,i have to make a conclude that the lighting actually is work!but it didn't too obvious that there have a light on terrains if compare to the light on wall.

if i didn't tile the texture then the dynmic lighting is quite obvious on the terrains but terrible texture.i guess have to deal with the texturing to make the obvious lighting effect on terrains.thanks for answer my question PHeMoX.

btw,the limit of instruction slots still exist,max light to run in my pc is 5 light.i am using same code in the wiki
