I am probably thinking that maybe the answere to my question is no, but would it be possible to make A6.31.4 use dx7 or dx8 for rendering instead of dx9?
Maybe switch the dx modes???

Why would you want to use dx7?
I think you are unlcear on how Dx works..even if your card is Dx9 compliant you can still run a dx 9 game(you must have dx9 installed of course), you just dont get all the new effects. You can code your effects so that there are fallbacks for non-shader cards etc.. even have no effects at all. Standrd A6 materials like mat_model, mat_shaded, etc will work on old cards.

I know how DirectX works Matt.
There seems to be trouble running certain cards with dx9.(invisible weapon models ect...)
I was asking if there is a way to disable the dx features of certain versions.
Like if you choose dx8.1 it disables dx9's features and if you choose dx8.0 it disables both dx9 and 8.1.

Valve Software was smart and did this for HL2 because of the gfx card issues.
My card is one of these that has these problems.
Heck... my card even has trouble with dx8.1 and dx8.0.

As weapon models are just models , they shouldnt have any specific problems associated with them. If you are talking about them going through walls, the NEAR flag is now implemented in the latest beta version.
