Just curious...

In the new lighting system, we all know that the number of dynamic lights will be improved. But, when will things like self-shadowing be implemented, if at all?
Im not sure how accurate the light on models are rendered, cause I only have the Standard version for now, but how accurate are they? Is a polygon one color on its entire surface, or is each pixel rendered in relation to its distance from the lightsource, angle, etc, or is it rendered per-polygon?

I hope what I say makes sense.

Self shadowing is already available through stencil shadows, just set shadow_stencil=on; (you need commercial version however)

Hardware lights interpolate the colors based on the vertex normals, so the more vertices your model has, the better the lighting will be.

Is it also possible to have a model cast a stencil shadow without the model iself being lit or selfshadowd? Like, say you want a very flat look, but do want models to cast shadows, that follow the curveture of the ground below.
Could you have a model cast a stencil shadow without having a dynamic light? For example, if you don't have an actual light, but just the position where the light would be.
