I´ve reinstalled my computer with win XP, I also installed GS but now i get the error message E 1513 Crash in Main: .... when i run acknex.exe. I have no script, only levels designed and built them and run. It happens also with older one with scripts (templates and selfmade) The manual say that this error come with bad scripts but before the reinstall there was no error.
My PC: Win XP SP 2, all window updates
GS 6.31.4 Com

Also I have all the same software and drivers as before.
I don´t know if this is bug so I write in Ask Conitec.

This error is related to a WDL crash, so check that ther're really no scripts added.
Maybe some folder structs have changed and the compiler is missing a file?

No, there are no scripts. I have made a testlevel with only a block and a standard texture. Built it and run. The Error message comes at the engine start.

I have it reinstalled in the same folder and also in a new one. Still the same error.

So i'm moving this to the bug-forum.
Please provide some further information on your pc, like hardware and drivers.
Also make sure that the update process succeed and that no files are write-protected.

GS 6.31.4 (also I´m Beta tester with 6.32.8 where the same error comes)

I have installed GS with the Trial Version from the download page and installed my key(6.00.02??). The update to 6.31.4 was succesful and no files are write protected.

Also I have the windows firewall active and no virus!!

1513 is indeed a script crash. It can also happen during a walktrough because the walkthrough is handled by an internal script.

Of course, there are no script errors in internal scripts. Therefore, the crash is related to something happening on your PC while the engine is running.

Maybe the reinstallation of XP has installed a faulty driver or even a virus that damaged the engine. I would undertake the following steps:

- run a RECENT virus scanner (often peopla are conviced they have no virus, but it's just an outdated scanner)
- run a memory test program overnight (a frequest cause for engine crashes are faulty memory chips)
- remove and reinstall Gamestudio completely to rule out a damaged file during installation
- if this didn't remove the problem, reinstall XP completely, then install Gamestudio anew.

I have scanned my PC with 2 different virus scanner and both had no virus detected. Both are uptodate (today´s update).
I have also reinstalled GS in a new file, also on another Harddrivedisk and also i have formated and installed my windows for three times (installed GS as last software, installed before installing all drivers, and installed behind drivers). And like i said, i have manualy installed the drivers like them before the WINXP reinstall.
Only thing i have not made was a memory check. But it is also the same like before.
I have GS now also installed many times at my notebook and there is no error. I hope that this is only a minimal conflict on my system because at the moment i think it might be an error from a windows update.

IMO there is no possibility for a Windows update to behave this way. But I must admit that I'm also out of other ideas. Maybe it's indeed a hardware fault and the windows reinstallation was just a coincidence. If you find the reason please let us know.

Of course, i think i will work on it tonight (Yes it´s weekend!) I hope i get it to work!

I have found the error. My SP2 was a damadged download, so an error was somewhere in my WindowsXP System. Now i have earned my own SP2 CD from Mirosoft, reinstalled SP2 and everything works great. Wow, it´s great to work again with Gamestudio after 2 weeks. For all people who using XP, watch for your updates!! And thanks for JCL, he has brought me to the idea with the update error from Microsoft.
