OK. I created a 3D animated water model in MED. You can download the model from here.

Model Download here:

Download Water 3D Model

How it was done:

Export 10 border seamless bmp bitmaps from PCXanim (availble on this site). Here the animation was >flower10.bmp<.

Import each bmp as a highmap to create a terrain. Size: 64x64. You may change the size for your own needs with your own new models.

Convert each terrain to model and export each as a 3ds file with >export frame to 3ds<. Enumeration should be water0.3ds to water9.3ds

Create a new model. Import the first 3ds of your set with >import mesh from 3ds<. Then import the next 3ds files with >append frame from 3ds< until you have 10 frames in the frame manager list. Check the animation.

Go to skin manager, create a new (empty) skin, set the texture checkbox on, and click on >set skin<. Small preview box will turn black usualy. Once you did that you can import a skin in the skin editor (!) of 1024x1024 size (in this case).

Create a 2 sided mapping from top view.

Scale the mapping in the skin editor so it fits over the skin fully.

Activate the animation button and set the animation speed to 1 frame/sec. And set interpolation on.

Let the animation run.

Because the animation in med had a lag at the end of the frame list, before it jumps back to the first frame, I decided to delete some frames in the frame manager. You can see that in the frame list.
After that the lag was gone. That may not be necessary when the model is in the hands of the powerfull Lite-c engine or you have a better approach, smaller stuff.

Save the model e.g. as mywater.mdl. (save to md7 format).
You need to reload this model if you want to see an engine preview. Engine preview in MED only works when model was saved once and then reloaded. Small bug.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Note: Because the flower10.bmp pcxanim animation was border seamless the meshes of the animation are also rather good tileable.

The texture I used was made border seamless with the <Autofuzzer> function in my corvitextu browser (high screen resolution for 1024x1024 textures please) . Corvitextu is available from this site also. You can use any other texture if you have a seamless texture and you want to tile the Water.mdl in the Lite-c engine. You may also want to flatten the water model if the waves make you seasick.

I did not jet implement a texture animation, which could improve the look of the model. Leave that up to you.

OK. A small tour de force but the results are well worth the work I think.

BTW the water model is freeware for all Gamestudio users.

Download doesn't work because it is blocked directly as a virus. Do you have a screenshot of your work?

Download is not blocked as a virus and the archive contains no virus. 2 Screenshots should be visible. I recommend not to download the file if you assume that the connection it is not safe.
