hey guys have a question?? when i goto compile my level it wont. it says
"surfaces to big for shaded model", then the little dot just sits there flashing, and the nexus is hung up at 342. ive tried a couple of different ways to make this work but i cant get it. so does this meen my models are to big or are my textures wrong?? to me it looks fine but it is being very fussy...any ideas?

This just means that the surface of one of your blocks is too big for shaded mode. There are a few causes:

1. (obvious) One of your blocks covers a very large area. Either split it up into multiple blocks, use flat shaded mode for that surface in question, or use models.
2. You have too many surfaces right next to the lightmap space limit. Use fewer surfaces or use models for the smaller details.
3. You have a fairly small block but with a tiny texture scale (such as a 0.1 scale). Never have a texture scale below 0.25 for best results.

You should start using a legitimate version of 3dgs and update to the newest version, I bet this solves all your problems ..

Edit: mmm, what's with this 6.269 version anyways, Prog_plus_plus has it too?

Cheers

That's just the version that I got when I bought the software. Should it be something different? Is there a better version I should have? I know I have done the WED updates so maybe that has something to do with it.

LOL

Ok, you have Commercial 6.31.4 and your WED version is 6.269.

That makes more sense.

We have a rash of warez users that come to these boards with all manner of crazy "warezed" versions and when you post "Commercial 6.269", well, red flags come up.

No, you have the latest update, but it sounds like your computer is missing a file. Try reinstalling 3DGS completely and see if that solves it. If not, the problem is with your OS instalation.
