I have just upgraded from 3D GameStudio/A6 Trial Version 6.31 too GameStudio/A6 Team Commercial 6.40.5

I make a new file I goto build, it builds fine; then I goto run level and it loads the level then closes on the first frame. It does this on every build I do and even the demos that come with 3dgs already compiled.

Also, I have the newest Direct X from microsoft.
I am running a Raedon 9550 with uptodate drivers aswell.

If you can help us with my problem it would be great, I am the only team member getting this problem. Thank you for your quick reply.

First, make sure that you've installed it correctly - especially your key file. Next, try the hints given in the manual's troubleshooting section about bugs and computer crashes.

If you can't find the reason this way, start the engine with -diag, and post the acklog.txt here. Maybe I'll then get an indea what happened.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled it several times. At first I thought I was the only one but now another team member is getting the exact same problem. We both have read the manual, 3rd party sites/forums, about 5 hours of trouble shooting last night and came up with nothing.

We broke the install process down into parts. Install the Trail of 3dgs; we didnt get shutdown on 1st frame. Apply our Team Key path; didn't get shutdown on 1st frame. Applied Update aviable off Download section for members; We got shutdown on first frame.

Then we thought it might be we needed the template files, nope no change with new template files.

And there is no errors, create a new map, add cube large (or whatever), Build Level (no errors), Run Level (no errors), then the level opens and plays for about 1 frame and jsut simply closes without saying anything.


Here is the log file of the build:

Well, the log file of your build won't be very helpful if your engine crashes. I'd need the log file of your engine.

The engine does not crash. When I go to run level it runs for about a second then closes. I recieve no error messages. Is quite annoyying... It works fine before the patch; and its the newest verson off your site.

If I am quick enough I can fly around my level for a split second before it closes.

The version number is the version of the map compiler. It may be 6.31, but SED has 1.2.8 and MED has something else along with WED.

When about to run the level, you'll see an input field. Type a space at the very end then "-diag" without the quotes then okay it. This creates the engine log, of which JCL is asking for.

Just in case, be sure you don't have any exit(); instruction somewhere in your code.

Thanks, there is info above but that is private and who its registered too. And it doesnt have any script, Its a brand new map where I threw some objects in and hit build, then run. It should let you fly around it but it closes after frame 1. Im the lead technical developer on the team, hence I am the only one posting since it would only make sense than rather have 10 of the same bug reports. This is not jsut limited to me.
