It would be nice to remove the Minimize and Close buttons from the views, you don't need them. This prevents from clicking at the wrong button. If you, for instance, click by mistake on the Close button you have to reopen that window by the menu, verry anoying.

Add more vieuws, so you can diside witch 4 views you will see.
Views for back, left, and bottom. Rename back to front and side to right.
Why is the lower left view called back anyway? Looking at the top view that view must be the front view.

Frits

Yeah!
The views should be like in MED! That would be much nicer!

From Dan's Wed Manual:

Quote:

WED's Top view allows you to view your work from the top as if you were a bird in the sky
looking downward. This view is very useful if you need to align two objects of which one is positioned
above the other. There are other reasons to use this view, but I am sure you will figure this out as you
become comfortable working in WED's views.
The Side view allows you to see your level from a 2D side view and WED's Back view allows you to see
the level from behind. With these three views you basically can view your level from any of the three
axis coordinates (along the X, Y or Z axis).
WED's 3D View allows you to move about in it and view your work from any angle you want.

But I support a different method of resizing panels etc

Andrew

I like MED's design better where you can just resize the various windows. The five buttons on the left side make it easier to quickly resize the windows. The top view, to me, is the most important and is my most used view. The one below the top view is my next most-used. The one below the 3D view is rarely used. I normally first build using the top view to layout the plan then use the side views to adjust the height.

I agree that there really isn't much sense in having a minimize, maximize, and close button for WED - I almost never use them (then again, I almost never use WED). MED should replicate WED's design with the panel on the far left side. WED should replicate MED's view designs giving the more flexible resizing.

I would like to see the ability to pick which views to see and I agree to be able to see back, left, bottom

The min, max and close buttons are there because you can open more than the traditional four views. In fact, you should be able to open as many of the orthogonal views (the 2D views) as you like ... or as few. Some people may only want three views or even two. Therefore they need to be able to close the additional ones. Some may need an extra one for a short period of time and then need to close it when finished. I use the MAX button all the time to work in one of the views at full screen. So this button is very much needed (by me, at least). The only button I don't use is the minimize one, but I can see where someone would want that.

BTW - I am off a different oppinion concerning the MED views. I absolutely dislike how they function.

First: if you read my first post well, you notice that I am not speaking of the maximize button because that is the only button that I use, so that button may not be removed.

Second: I still think that the view called back is not the back but the front.

Third: if someone like to use a different number of views make it so that you can choose a different layout of the views (three views: top; the top view, bottom; front view and left view),two views: top; top view, bottom; front view etc.) and in the view you can choose what you will see per view like so;

No, it is the BACK view, but since it is a 2D orthogonal view then it really does not matter.

You can do this already, but they are just not pre-defined.

WED can be set up, via preferences (Save Win Position under the Advanced tab), to remember your previous WED window set up. If you want several different WED window set ups then you can save a blank level (setup1.wmp, etc) and just open them up as you need them. Of course, you cannot switch to these other view setups in the midst of designing a level with this method, but it only takes a moment to drag views into the postion you want. I am not saying the method could not be improved, but the functionality is there to some degree already.

If this is the back view then the view is wrong. The drawing has to be rotated 180 degrees.
See following figure:

If you fold it into a block, turn it around so that the back is in front you see that the figure is turned 180 degrees.
