You missed the point of this thread. It has nothing to do with Jesus having existed or not. It is a critic on modern religion. Anyone can say he is the New Savior, and noone can disprove him, because religion has an answer to every question ("God did it", "God want's it to be like that", "You will see in the afterlife"). Look at Scientology. Do you think thats a legitimit religion? Do you think they are right?
If no, why not? You can't give any reason why they should be wrong without having your own religion disproven aswell.

you cannot prove they are wrong, but you can read newspaper articles or listen to ex-members how they treat followers who want to get out of the system, you can read studies how deep they're involved into economic processes and draw your own conclusion. as i said already, it's not what you say but what you do. it only gets dangerous if the religion leader say that they represent the only legitimate one, and therefor must hunt down or convert all disbelievers.
so, as long as spike doesn't hunt me down for not believing in him, or roasting babies for breakfast, let him say what he wants.

Com on , how can you seriously claim that modern religions are an important issue, nowadays
The impact is VERY serious. There are terrorist who base their terroristic acts ONLY on their religion. People are getting killed every day because of religious conflicts. And you are trying to tell me that religion is not a big issue nowadays??

Have you ever been to an islamic country? I can't imagine it. Even in an apperantly secular country as germany there is at least one major incident every week that was caused by different religious believes.

I was simply following you, as you can see
None of the islamic fanatics claim to be the new Savior, as far as I know.
They fight in the name of an old religion
There are some guys who claim to be the reincarnation of Jesus Christ or even to be God Himself but generally speaking they are not dangerous guys
Some of them were even very intelligent people for example one of the greatest american mathematician, Nash
New religions are , in some case ,very close to illegal associations but they are defintly isolated, at least here in the old Europe..no offence for american friends
