There are not that many people yet who have a Geforce 8800, which is as far as I know the only graphics card currently available with shader model 4.0. Sure, the Geforce 8800's sell very good at the moment, but looking at all gamers/ pc users, it's a very very small amount of people. Infact, not much people have multi-core processors or current high-end 3D cards... It's good to implement these more high-end features, but if only 1 or 2% of every customer can take advantage of it ...
