Now if you go with lightwave you also need to visit "greenbriar studio" at http://www.greenbriarstudio.com/3D/GameLWMod.htm
to get a decent suite of plugins
(unless Frank knows where to get a free mdl exporter), if they cannot be afforded then go with blender, yes I am a blender advocate, but I live in lightwave(waiting patiently for 9.2).

@AlbertoT:

That has been exactly similar to my experience with DarkBasicPro, it constantly had bugs, no version I ever saw had little enough bugs and could thus realistically be used to finish a project. The 3DGS' public updates never had bugs which prevented one to finish a project if you'd use that version only as far as I know and definitely as long as I'm using the acknex engine. With DarkBasicPro more bugs came with newer versions and old ones sometimes stayed in for a long time. I don't like new features if old very disturbing bugs don't get fixed. I don't know how it's now, since I never use DarkBasicPro anymore, but back when I did, it simply was disastrous.

Cheers

Phemox: Sometimes I wonder about you. Every software has bugs. A6 is a good robust and stable tool but it has bugs of course. Just look into the bug-section of conitec. There is a web page that shows which bugs have been solved in later versions and thus is a clear proof that bugs exists:
http://www.conitec.net/beta/bugs.htm

This is not a problem, since it is a normal process of evolution. But your posts are often wrong and show only the one and light side of the story.

A6 has it's fair share of bugs, but perhaps he meant to say they wouldn't disable a project, because you can always count on Conitec to fix most of them. That's something I've probably taken for granted(never tried many more engines), but in the beta forums your bugs are looked into and fixed, and I've had many(including somewhat disabling c_trace/c_move bugs) over the years.

It's too bad Gamespace isn't getting it's exporters for A6, I had hoped it would turn into a real solid tool for people with smaller budgets.

Ah, the joy of taking quotes out of context.

3DGS has bugs but nothing that would prevent him from finishing a project.
Conitec can't catch every single bug, but we do make sure that the product is usable before we sell it.
