Take a look at the download page. The problem with such big softwares is the price; If Maya would cost 1$ ( ) there would be plenty of ex/importers.

It isn't cheap, which is why I havn't upgraded. Another problem is that Maya was always so closed off and really sort of refused to work with other programs and companies. Which is why maya didn't do as well and ended up getting bought out by Autodesk.

Still using the demo.. Hoping that they come up with A7 before I need to buy. I figure I will get the 300 version for now and then maybe later get the *cough *cough 800.00 one

As for the A6/A7 purchase: I may be wrong, but my understanding with the Product News link from the homepage, those who purchased A6 will be able to download A7 at no additional charge (for the same license level)?

I know there's been several posts on this elsewhere in the forums, but you've made me think about it again since I re-read that news snippet: "While the A7 release date is not yet determined, a free A7 upgrade is included in any currently delivered A6 version or upgrade." (http://www.conitec.net/english/gstudio/news.php)

Could someone clarify if "currently delivered" means only those folks who purchased A6 before the Jan 29 news release, or does it also include those of us who purchase now? I'm ready to spend that $200, but not sure if I should wait since A7 sounds like it would be more suited for my game genre.

That is primarily my thinking. I guess I will search around the forum and try to find out more.

Buy A6 now and you'll get an upgrade to the same edition for A7 without any additional payment.

Example:
Buy "A6 Commercial" now and when A7 is released you'll get a download link (I guess) where you can download the A7 setup file.
Then you can use your A6 key file to activate your A7.

But: Its still only ONE licence!
So you cannot resell your A6 and still use the A7 because then two people would use the same key file.

EDIT:
@Aliakey: People who have purchased A6 since the 29th Jan 2007 will get the A7 for free as far as I know.
This means: buy now!

Thank you Thunder! I know it was a {slam your head on keyboard newbie} question, but wanted to be sure what I was reading in the news announcement was as I hoped it was, and not the (possible) literal interpretation.

Didn't want to wait until A7's release to do some serious work with this engine, but figured A7 would be better suited to large outdoor levels compared to A6.
