Minigames are a good way to avoid what you call "Developing Block Syndrome" - you are generally finished with them as soon as you get bored. Plus, you get to try out a bunch of things that you can use for later, bigger projects. So yes, go ahead and make a few minigames! You'll likely get more replies than I did, so you don't have to worry about feedback:)*
If you want your game to be a little more "unique", you might also consider throwing ideas you liked from different games together.
I did this for
my first "Experimental Game", and it turned out pretty well. Generally, letting thngs react on music is still a kind-of-new concept that still feels fresh, so hurry up and use it!
