I know that you need to have a true type font installed in order to be able to use it. What if i make a game with it's own true type font and want others to play it. How would I "force" the font's installation to the target computer when installing the game?

I guess it could be done by finding out where the font directory is located (from registry?) and then just copy the font file into it. Would this work? Is there any way after that to verify that the font has been installed correctly and the game can use it?

My solution is to use a great little installer program from ClickTeam called InstallMaker. You can get a freeware version here. It will allow you to install fonts along with the rest of your game.
