Well, i guess im gonna restart it with A5.5 (instead of 5.14) because my computer got a lil screwy and didn't help out. So i'm gonna try to make it even better....it shouldn't take too long if i stick with it and do it on my days off, maybe a couple weeks.

Any contributions such as hero/enemy models would help...i've got some that were available online but i'd rather use original ones so they might look a little corny if i end up whipping them together.

ya, thats where i got the inspiration for the model....good old ff7.

also, would u guys like a very simple one that i could probably do in a week and would be extra easy to follow, but it wouldn't be the most effective way to make a big rpg. It wouldn't have as much features either. probably a better chance of me finishing it since it wouldnt be as long. but i think you guys would benefit from an extra long one, but im not sure i have it in me to finish it.

basic features:
-simple movement
-made by us collision detection
-npcs
-random battles
-triggered battle
-menu screen
with status screen
?Save/Load
?Spell Screen
?Item Screen
?Equipment Screen
-Spells Single/multi target
-Angled, overhead camera
-ATB or CT battle system
?Allies
?Town
?Area change
?Seperate Weapons

the ones w/? would be for the better version of the tutorial.

Tell me what you guys think, including any extra features i could add.

Hey, Ben!

Those features would be very good for the RPG tutorial! I can't wait to download a tutorial. If I like it (since I will be scanning through tutorials once it's available, I would like to get a better version that includes extra features that I would need explained for the RPG tutorial.

Keep it up!
-Grayson

PS: I'd clicked in your link but I saw a banner and a picture. I haven't look at the whole screen since I am using a magnification program called ZoomText. [Razz]

Go for the short tutorial, Ben.

I would love to just get you to point me/us in the right direction on some of the RPG topics you noted below...

Thanks in advance!

Peter

One thing that might be useful for others is a solid example of how to get multiple items in game en masse.

For example, as opposed to scripting a long sword, a short sword, a bastard sword... have a single sword script that calls variables from an array to represent all of them. Easily expandable, pretty simple to implement but its one of the least documented procedures.

Why dont you have it as a WIP (work in progress) do a small one first and then go into detail at a later date. One advantage of this would be feedback.
Go Go Ben!

i decided i would do a more basic one and come back later if i feel like doing a more advanced one...maybe just as a modification to the first.

so far im almost done with the prototype game i'll follow. after working on it for a couple days straight i have over 1500 lines of code. so all i have left now is to make a few models, and type the tutorial, which im guessing will be about 100 pages in pdf.

id give you guys an expected release date, but i dont like deadlines and i might even lose interest. plus i have a b-ball tournament coming up...but i think after these past couple days of pure coding, i'll probably think before i scrap it.
